FRENCH Antique Silver NUDE Woman Medal Necklace Laurel WREATH-n-nude

A remarkable art nouveau inspired Silver award Medal from France.

We adore the Laurel Wreath bale with single faceted crystal and beautifully draped semi-nude woman holding a Laurel Branch, symbolic of Peace.

The back of the medal is dated 1964 with the village the award was given in.

The medal is framed in alternating Pearls and Rhinestones.

The bale is Cast from the original antique European medal; over a century old, this lovely reproduction is hand crafted. It is Sterling Silverplated and aged to a wonderful old world patina.

Suspended on antique clear French beads and finished with etched link chain.

This is a rare and exceptional piece that can be worn with pride.

Necklace is 31" long and medal is 1.25" in diameter.

Laurel Wreath Symbolism

In common modern usage it refers to a victory. The expression "resting on one's laurels" refers to someone relying entirely on long-past successes for continued fame or recognition, where to "look to one's laurels" means to be careful of losing rank to competition. In some countries the laurel wreath is used as symbol of the master’s degree.
