From our Victorian Mother of Pearl Collection….

 

An opulent Chatelaine Mother of Pearl Lorgnette, or folding pair of magnifying Glasses, a design so typical of the French in this period.

 

We date the piece between the Victorian and Art Deco period, C1890-1910.

 

This impressive pair of glasses is elegantly hung on complimentary French Antique Mother of Pearl Beads from the same era finished with link chain and a MOP Heart and Rhinestone. 

 

A one of a kind treasure…

Necklace measures a generous 34" long and the glasses are 3.25" Long when folded up and a bit over 4" wide when opened.

 

We are not sure of the magnification level, new lenses could be added for your prescription if desired, but they appear to be of an Opera glass for distance.

 

 

The Mother of Pearl is much more beautiful in person, the photos do not catch the true beauty of this piece.
