FRENCH Antique Saint JOAN OF ARC SILK Tapestry Signed DOYEN-jaslk





We are pleased to note the subject matter. It features a very moving representation of the glorious Saint Joan of Arc holding her banner with her hand over her Heart. The tapestry is sepia, a very fine presentation. It is signed "G. DOYEN as well as marked AF or NF on the right hand bottom corner. Measures 7.5" by 15.5". It is in good antique condition, please see our photos. Joan of Arc was born January 6th, 1412 and was only 19 years old when she was burned at the stake in 1431. She was lead by Angel voices and brought forth her first army at the young age of 16. In her first letter to the English in March 22, 1429 she wrote, “I am sent here by God the King of Heaven.” She was canonized as a Saint on May 16th, 1920.
