FRENCH 1890 VIRGIN Mary Hand Reverse PAINTED Holy Water Font Mother of Pearl SHELL



What can we say about this FINE FRENCH C 1890-1910 Holy Water Font from Paris except pieces of this nature are getting harder and harder to come by every day!! This appears to be a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary in her status as Queen of Heaven and Earth. This unique and wonderfully executed Religious Painting was most likely once a cherished piece in a private home or Church. We see this piece delicately placed with your other Religious artifacts or on a pedestal shining on its own merit. She has the most angelic face we have seen to date, we have not seen a more beautifully presented Visage in our time. The detail of her Crown, Gown and the branch of ROSES is absolutely incredible. The painting is executed by hand and the Domed facade is beautifully executed with detail that is spectacular and is under glass. It appears her Blue sash is crafted either with Foil or a special paint. (Please see our close-up photo.) The Frame is no less mesmerizing in Gilded Brass with a pierced Acanthus leaf and Rosebud pattern. The Holy water font is comprised of a Mother of Pearl Shell edged in a highly detailed Herringbone design. Measures approx. 3.5” Wide by 5.5” Tall. No mark.
