Antique Beveled Glass Jewel Scenic Cask BOX Jewelry NICE French Riviera-b-nice

They boxes are getting harder and harder to find in France each year. So we are very pleased to be able to offer several different ones !
The box dates to C1880 and has thick beveled Glass sides, a Red Silk tufted pillow inside and ornate gilt Brass trim and frame.
This one features a scene of the famous "Monument Centenaire" in Nice, France in the Riviera.
Measures 2.5" tall with a 2.25" square base.

The monument of the Centenary of the Nice meeting in France, of André-Joseph Allar was inaugurated March 4 the 1896 in the garden Albert 1 er. It celebrates the centenary Nice attachment to France in 1793. The bronze statue depicts a winged victory that oath of allegiance. The marble group is an allegory Nice to giving France.

The monument was commissioned on the occasion of the centenary celebrations of the Republic, in 1892. He was inaugurated on 4 March 1896 by Félix Faure, President of the French Republic, Leon Bourgeois, Chairman, Maurice Rouvier, president of General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, Alfred Borriglione, Senator of Alpes-Maritimes, Flaminius Raiberti, Deputy of Alpes-Maritimes and François Alziary of Malausséna, Mayor of Nice.

It was inscribed with historical monuments July 23, 2009
