From our Mermaid Collection....
Our latest Triple Stand design... a Single strand of Tiffany Blue beads coupled with two stands of delicate Ivory
pearls, upon which is draped a Solid Bronze Mermaid, we suspended the charm from a Laurel Wreath , embellished with a clear faceted Rhinestone. Both pieces are cast from the original Art Nouveau French pieces over a century old, this lovely reproduction is hand crafted.
The mermaid is a military award from 1909. We adore the shape and movement of this delicious medal, a rare find indeed. The Laurel Wreath held a WWI medal and is symbolic of Peace.
Necklace is 18”L, Pendant is approx. 1.25" w by 1.50" tall.
Laurel Wreath Symbolism
In common modern usage it refers to a victory. The expression "resting on one's laurels" refers to someone relying entirely on long-past successes for continued fame or recognition, where to "look to one's laurels" means to be careful of losing rank to competition. In some countries the laurel wreath is used as symbol of the master’s degree.
